Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the special attractions in Himachal Pradesh.

Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary spans over an area of 140050 hectare of land. The elevation range of this Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is 3,600-6,700 m above mean sea level. The vegetation near Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is sparse and has high medicinal properties.

Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary has been extensively surveyed by the researchers for distribution of plants and their indigenous uses as established by the amchis - the practitioners of Tibetan medical systems. Eight rare and endangered medicinal plant species have been discovered by C.P. Kala, one of researcher from Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. Aconitum rotundifolium, Arnebia euchroma, Ephedra gerardiana, Gentiana kurroo and Dactylorhiza hatagirea are such threatened but medicinally important plants occur in this sanctuary.

Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, the only one in the country that is located in a cold desert, is situated on the left bank of the Spiti River. Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary extends over an area of 1400 square kilometres and has a clearly demarcated buffer zone and the inner protected area.

Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is a high altitude natural sanctuary and hence this place is the sanctuary of some rare and endangered mountain animals like the Ibex, blue sheep, Himalayan wolf, the Tibetan wooly hare and the majestic but elusive snow leopard. There are also a number of birds like the Himalayan snow cock; the bearded eagle, griffons and the Himalayan billed chough are residents of the sanctuary.
