Khejuri

Khejuri was a famous port till 18th century that is in the first phase of advent of the British East India Company. Raja Rammohon Roy left for England from the Khejuri port.

From 1851-52, the first telegraph line in India was established here between Calcutta (Kolkata) and Khejuri. Khejuri is attractive to the tourists of West Bengal and from the other states of India for the desolate places with the British and French emblems.

There is a desolate and burial ground has historic value. One may cherish the beauty of isolation when one visits this place. There are approximately 33 tombs are there surrounded by a wall. Tombs are dated from 17th century to 1865.

The Hijli Mosque is Khejuri is another prime attraction. There are five miles south from Kaokhali is Kasba Hijli village, it was Taj-Kha`s capital. Job Charnak, the British Explorer established his first camp here. One could see Hijli Nabab family`s founder Taj-Kha Masnad-E-Als`s Tomb (1555) here. The mosque here is very famous.
