Rice is one of the important and prominent industries of this town. The town has 60 rice mills that provide almost 2000 tonnes of good quality rice every day. The product is distributed in different parts of the town by the mill owners and rice merchants.
Tourist Places in Karunguzhi
Karunguzhi serves as a popular tourist spot with several tourist locations. One of the most interesting places to visit in the town is Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary. It is located almost 8 kms away from Karunguzhi. The sanctuary provides shelter to a variety of birds that migrate to here from different parts of the country. Another major attraction of the town is an ancient fort constructed by an emperor of the Pallava Dynasty. Tourists can also visit the two lofty mountains located here. The Renganathar Mountain located in Malipalayam is one of them. It is almost 700 metres in height and provides a panoramic view of the whole town. A temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu has been constructed atop the mountain. The other mountain worth visiting here is located in Karunguzhi forest. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has been built in the midst of the green forest. Another temple of Lord Gnanagereeswarar is located in the vicinity. It is an ancient temple that dates back to almost 100 years. A beautiful lake covering an area of almost 500 acres is situated here. The lake is used for cultivation. Madurantakam town is located at a distance of almost 3km from Karunguzhi.
