The Kanthi Dewal Temple is located at Ratanpur, about 25 km from Bilaspur. Situated close to the ancient Mahamaya Devi Mandir, this octagonal shaped shrine is a strange blend of Hindu and Muslim style of architecture. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva, enshrined in the form of a shivling. The walls of the temple are decorated with sculptures dating back to the 9th and 12th centuries. Most notable amongst these sculptures are the Shaal Bhanjika (a lady feeding her child), Lingodhbhava Shiva and Kalchuri King. The temple was recently restituted by the Archaeological Survey Of India.
