Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary has a rough, rugged and hilly terrain, located on the Western Ghats. Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary has the Moist mixed deciduous vegetation and this region also has semi deciduous natural vegetation. The highest peak of Shyadri is located in this wild life sanctuary. The peak is Kalsubai with an elevation of 1646 metres.
The main tree species are Terminalia chebula (Hirda), Syzgium gibsonii (Jambul), Macaranga peltala (Chandawa), Cassia fistula (Bahava), Xantoliss tomentosa (Kumbhal ), Actinoda hookri (Gulchavi), Diospyrous montana (Kudal ), Albezzia procera (Siras), Trema orientalis (Kharvel), Memocylon umbellatum (Karap ), Phyllanthus emblica (Avali), Dridelia retusa (Ashind), Canthium umnelatum (Lokhand), T. bellerica (Behada) are abundant in this region.
The animals found in Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary are Leopard, Jungle Cat, Palm civet, Mongoose, Wolf, Jackal, Fox Wild Boar, barking deer, Hare, Sambar, and bats. The reptiles found in Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary are Monitor Lizard, Fan-throated lizard, Turtles and many spices of snakes. This wildlife sanctuary is the home of the avifauna like White necked Storks, Herons, Ibies, water-bees and many others.
