Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje, the former Governor of Himachal Pradesh from the year 2003 to 2008, was also the former Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.

He took oath on 8th May 2003 as the Governor of the state Himachal Pradesh and his tenure ended in the year 2008. Kokje was a practicing lawyer and later became a judge. In 2001, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court and later appointed as an advocate of Supreme Court of India since 2002.

Early Life of Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje
Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje was born on 6th September, 1939 in Madhya Pradesh at the village known as Dahi Tehsil Kukshi. Though his education was initiated in the rural level, through the later years, Kokje received different educational qualifications from a number of institutions. He received his Secondary Education from Dhar district. Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje completed his graduation from the Holkar College at Indore.

He began practicing law in 1964 after he completed his LLB from Government Arts and Commerce College in the same city of Indore. He also did his M.A. in Sociology from the Christian College, Indore.

Career of Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje
Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje had received many qualifications from different universities. He commenced his career in the year 1964 in Indore and was appointed as the judge in Madhya Pradesh High Court in 1990. His career expanded over a span of 26 years in which Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje had practiced in various legal fields that include Civil Law, Labour and Industrial Law, Company Matters and Constitutional Writs.

Besides this, Justice Kokje has held several prestigious positions that comprise, the honourable Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 28-07-1990. It was from the year 1992 to 1994 that he delivered the state of Madhya Pradesh as the President. Again from the year 1998 to 2001, Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje served as the Administrative Judge, Rajasthan High Court. He was also offered the designation of Chief Justice (acting) of the Rajasthan High Court for 11 months. In addition, in September 2002, he was conferred as the Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India. He was also designated in the office of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 8th May, 2003.

Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje was appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Apart from his work Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje also has keen interest in various disciplines of sports and the major of them being badminton and cricket. He also takes a lot of interest in reading, travelling and long motor driving.
