Jay Om Prakash was a director and producer known for ‘Agnee’, ‘Arpan’ and ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’. Noted actor, director and producer Rakesh Roshan is his son-in-law and star actor Hrithik Roshan is his grandson.

He directed successful films like "Aap Ki Kasam" and "Aakhir Kyon?" both with Rajesh Khanna as the lead hero and films like "Apnapan", "Aasha", "Apna Bana Lo", "Arpan" and "Aadmi Khilona Hai" with Jeetendra as the lead hero. Jay Om Prakash was elected President of the Film Federation of India and served for the year 1995-1996.

Career of Jay Om Prakash
Jay Om Prakash made his directorial debut with hit film "Aap Ki Kasam" starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. The film was a box office success, and is remembered for the performance by its lead actors and all of its songs composed by R.D. Burman. He also directed successful Punjabi film "Aasra Pyaar Da" in 1983. He produced box office hit films like "Aas Ka Panchhi", "Ayee Milan Ki Bela", "Aaye Din Bahar Ke", "Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke" and "Aankhon Aankhon Mein". He also produced critically acclaimed but box office flop "Aandhi" in 1975. All his films titles started with English alphabet "A" except the film "Bhagwaan Dada". This film marked the debut of his grandson Hrithik Roshan in child artist"s role. Among all the films that he produced and directed, "Bhagwaan Dada" was one of his most successful films which had his son-in-law Rakesh Roshan in lead role. Jay Om Prakash was highly active in the industry until the 1990s and "Afsana Dilwalo Ka" which released in 2001 was his last film as a filmmaker.

Jay Om Prakash was born on January 24, 1927 in Sialkot, Punjab, British India. His daughter, Pinky, is married to director-producer Rakesh Roshan, making him the maternal grandfather of actor Hrithik Roshan. He died on 7th August 2019 in Mumbai at the age of 93.
