Constructed by the Delhi Development Authority, the Indraprastha Park was opened to the public in 2004. Located on the Outer Ring Road of East Delhi, the Indraprastha Park was built to provide a green space for the Delhi people to relax and spend their leisure hours.
Overview of Indraprastha Park
Also known as the Millennium Indraprastha Park, the park was completely made from a landfill site. Spanning over an area of almost 85 acres and stretching across a length of 2.7 km, the Indraprastha Park is said to be one of the longest parks in Delhi. Mostly known for its lush greenery, the park is divided into different zones, primarily gardens, like the Fragrant Garden, Bougainvillea Garden, Topiary Garden, Foliage Garden and the Smriti Van. The gardens are beautifully manicured and are planted with beds of colourful flowers that add to the aesthetics of the surroundings.
Within the premises of the park, there is also a World Peace Stupa, which was opened in 2007 by some monks and nuns of Nipponzan Myohoji, the 14th Dalai Lama and the Lt. Governor of India. Other than these, within the Indraprastha Park grounds, there is Humayun"s Tomb along with an amphitheatre, food court, water cascade and landscapes that would attract tourists and prompt them to stay for awhile.

The Delhi railway station is the nearest at a distance of only 10 km from the park and the Indira Gandhi International Airport is the closest at a distance of about 18 km from the Indraprastha Park.
