Hygam Wetlands is one of the famous wetland areas in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir. Hygam Wetlands is the homeland of many birds and fishes. Some of the birds are migratory. It is the good home for the migratory ducks.

Hygam Wetlands is situated in Baramulla District and it is 30 kilometres from Srinagar, the Capital City of Jammu and Kashmir.

Hygam Wetlands has the 1400 hectares of land. This area is dominated with extensive reed beds.
Drainage of Hygam Wetlands
Hygam Wetlands drains into Wular Lake of Jammu and Kashmir through Tarazoo. The main source of water is Nigle Nullah and Babakul.

The area of Hygam Wetlands is used by waterfowls. The depth is 1 to 25 meters as it is located on the flood plains of Jhelum River of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the winter times, Hygam Wetlands is the homelands of migratory ducks particularly Ancer species. Hygam Wetlands is also the abode of geese, Shovellers, Red crested Pochards, White eyed Pochards, Common Teals, Egrts, wigeons, coots and Grey lags.
