These two states in Central India have thick forest, waterfalls and tribal population. While some of the places in Chattisgarh are under developed, Madhya Pradesh becomes popular for the wildlife sanctuaries and medieval cities.

In early era, the eastern portion of Central India included the Bagelkhand and Bundelkhand agencies. Later it became the new state Vindhya Pradesh. The western portion, including Bhopal, Malwa and Bhopawar agencies and the Gwalior and Indore residencies, became the new state of Madhya Bharat. Bhopal, now the capital of Madhya Pradesh became a separate state. Makrai was transferred to Madhya Pradesh, which had been created from the former Central Provinces and Berar in 1950. In 1956, the states of Vindhya Pradesh, Madhya Bharat, and Bhopal were merged into Madhya Pradesh. Later Chhattisgarh, was formed from the area that was formerly Madhya Pradesh to administer the local regions which are now located in the new state.

Madhya Pradesh has many old and medieval monuments, exquisitely carved temples, forts and palaces are peppered all over the state. These are the glorious reminders of emperors and kings, warriors and builders, poets and musicians, saints and philosophers of Central India. While explaining about the hill stations in Madhya Pradesh, Panchmarhi is the only name. Panchmarhi is located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Pachmarhi is a popular tourist retreat. The tourists visit Pachmarhi throughout the year for the cool and temperate climate. Panchmarhi has the cave paintings in the forests, some of which have been estimated to be as much as 10,000 years old. The Sunset Point is one of the popular destinations in Panchmarhi.

Chattisgarh is popular for the hill stations. The wonderful climatic experience and the affordable weather make Chattisgarh a popular place to rejoice. This charming newly formed state is covered with the dark green forests, the beautiful mountains, crystal clear streams, gorgeous waterfalls, old and mystic natural caves and dense national parks and eco tourism parks. Bailadila, Ambikapur, Chirimiri and Gadiya mountain are the popular hill stations in Chattisgarh.
