HBO is one of the popular Indian Entertainment channel which is basically known for wide variety of hit English movies which also includes programmes like theatrically released motion picture along with original series, made for cable movies and documentaries, occasional sports like boxing matches. Though originally launched in 1975 this channel went through lot of changes from time to time to keep it at par with other Hollywood channels. HBO claims to be the World`s greatest movie channel- brining to its viewers the best from the magical world of Hollywood. With more than 70 movies every month, including 52 movie premieres on HBO Saturday Nights and favourite Hollywood stars on every HBO Superstar Sunday, primetime and weekends for all movie lovers have changed totally! HBO has been very well received among the Indian movie buffs. In the year 2004, HBO went one step further and for the first time the channel aired three movies - The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King - all dubbed in Hindi.
HBO till recently has added some new achievements. Since2000 when it launched its new channel HBO South Asia, it added nearly 3.9 million subscribers in addition to its existing crowd. Since then it added a number of new programmes. While the channel HBO South Asia is received by nearly 15 million households, they receive some of the most popular programmes of the channel like the premiers of Band of Brothers and many more. It also telecasted some of the latest movies under Cinemax which was launched in 2003. Till 2008 this channel has been one of the high definition channels that telecasted a number of programmes along with latest movies of Hollywood. Along with some popular music concert that was telecasted in HBO this channel tried to place some kind of varieties to its viewers.
