Harshdeep Kaur, Indian Playback SingerHarshdeep Kaur is a popular Indian playback singer who has garnered much appreciation in Sufi musical genre. Her victory in two talent reality shows rendered her much prominence in the music world. In fact she is accredited as the first female contestant who has been the winner of two reality show titles. Her ventures in the Hindi film industry earned her great popularity establishing her amongst the prominent playback singers of Bollywood.

Early Life of Harshdeep Kaur
Harshdeep Kaur was born on 16th December 1986 in Delhi to a Sikh family. She inherited her musical talent from her father, Savinder Singh, who is the owner of a musical instruments factory. She began receiving formal training in music from the tender age of 6 years. Harshdeep learnt Indian classical music under the expert tutelage of Mr. Tejpal Singh who is popularly known as the Singh Brothers. George Pullinkala of Delhi Music Theatre trained her in Western classical music. At the age of twelve, she joined the Delhi School of Music to delve deeper in the world of music and to learn piano.

Harshdeep Kaur began her musical career in Bollywood with song `Sajna Main Haari` from the movie Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai in the year 2003. This was followed by her more successful ventures as she sang diverse songs in a number of Bollywood flicks. She has voiced the compositions of some of the renowned music directors of film industry including Salim Suleiman, A. R. Rahman and many others. Some of the very popular Bollywood songs have been sung by Harshdeep such as `Katiya Karun` from Rockstar, `Bari Barsi` from Band Baaja Baaraat, `Heer` from Jab Tak Hai Jaan, `Kabira` from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and others through which she gained substantial acclamations in the music industry. Other movies in which she has worked as a playback singer include Phata Poster Nikla Hero, Khiladi 786, Desi Boyz, Halla Bol, Karam etc. She has also lent her voice in a television show called Bani - Ishq Da Kalma.

Harshdeep Kaur has been featured in some of the episodes of Coke Studio (India) in seasons 1, 2 and 3. She has also headlined the musical concert held at the esteemed Southbank Centre in London accompanied by Soul / Bollywood singer Ash King in April 2013. She performed at the London Mela in Gunnersbury Park in September 2013 and the APICON 2014 Conference in Ludhiana, Punjab in February 2014.

Harshdeep Kaur has been the winner of the MTV Video Gaga Contest in 2001. She has bagged the victory of the singing competition Junoon - Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka in September 2008 which was aired on NDTV Imagine. In the show she competed in the Sufi genre and was mentored by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and earned the title of `Sufi Ki Sultana` at the end of the show.
