Hanuman Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh is located at the Juna Akhara on the banks of River Ganges. This ghat has several mythological associations with it. Hanuman Ghat was previously called Rameshwaram Ghat because it is strongly believed by the local people that Lord Rama created this ghat with his own hands. Another belief says that Vaishnavaite pilgrim Vallabhacharya meditated at this ghat for many years. He used to preach here the legends of Lord Krishna to his followers. There are two temples located beside the Hanuman Ghat; they are believed to be built by the great preacher Tulsidas. This ghat is one of the popular ghats in Varanasi among tourists; especially the image of the Ruru Bhairava- it is one of the eight Bhairavas.
