Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve is a gift from nature, located in the south western part of Srinagar. This place is famous for its cinematic natural beauty.

Gulmarg Biosphere ReserveGulmarg Biosphere Reserve is a prominent tourist attraction spot, where one can find the beauty of nature and several endangered species like musk deer, snow leopard and many others.

Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve holds a rich cover of vegetation, the dominant forest consisting of conifers forest, which account for over 90 percent. The species resided in this biosphere reserve are Cedrus Deodara, Pinus Griffithii, Abies Pindrow, Aesculus Indica, etc. The major shrubs are Indigofera Heterantha, Sorbaria Tomentosa, Rumex Patientia and many other species.

Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve adds its beauty with multiple species of endangered species like Hangul, Musk Deer, Serow, Brown Bear, Leopard, Black Bear and Red Fox.

Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve houses a good population of pheasants and upland birds. Apart from the other species, both resident and migratory also resided in this area. The common birds are Griffon Vulture, Monal, Snow Cock, Koklas, Blue Rock Pigeon, Kashmir Roller, European Hoopoe and Jungle Crow.
