Gobind Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Bilaspur District, at a distance of nearly 83 kms away from Anandpur Sahib and 35 kms away from Una in the state of Himachal Pradesh. On 5th December, 1962, it was declared as a sanctuary and yet again fortified on 29th March, 1974. Its management is supervised by the Bhakra Management Board. The sanctuary is based on the banks of the spectacular Gobind Sagar Lake on which is existent Bhakra Nangal Dam, the largest dam of the nation. The area occupied by this wildlife reserve is nearly 170 square kilometres and it possesses a large variety of birds. The temple of Naina Devi is connected to Gobind Sagar Sanctuary, through a ropeway, overlooking Gobind Sagar Lake. Diverse kinds of flora and fauna can be observed in this sanctuary, which is a significant tourist locale. Trees of different species can be found here, which add to the natural charm of this place.

Gobind Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary provides shelter to numerous species of wild creatures which include Wild Boar, Sambar, Barking Deer, Singhara, Topra, Jhalli, Catla, Mrigal, Gid, Silver Crap, Misror Crap, Chilwa, Grass Crap and many more.
It is said that one must pay visit to Gobind Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary during the period between the months of July and September. Bhuntar and Chandigarh are the closest airports to this sanctuary and from Bilaspur one has to traverse only about 135 kms to reach Gobind Sagar Sanctuary. The greenery and the rich wildlife of this region would greatly appeal to wildlife-lovers as well as travellers who harbour immense affection for Mother Nature.
