Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary

Established in 1981, Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary is known as the haven of rare species of birds. The primary attraction of Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary is the Great Indian Bustard.

It was established in 1981 and is home to several species of animals and plants. Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary covers a total area of 511 sq. km. Primarily famous for the Great Indian Bustard, the sanctuary also houses a number of other animals as well. A number of rare birds, like, herons, egrets and spoonbills are also found here. November is the ideal time to indulge in bird watching in the sanctuary as flocks of migratory birds pay visit to the place.

Inspite of being known for varied birds, Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary is also the habitat of other animal species like the blackbuck, chital, monkey, wolf, blue bull, wild boar, fox, hyena, etc. The flora includes the likes of Khair, Murjan, Palash, Seja, Dhawada, Royenja, Ghote, Beweg, Dhaman, Salai, Heans, and Katli.

Besides basking in nature`s pride, the travellers can also explore the neighbourhood which is dotted with Dhuan Hanuman Temple, Dev-cave, Gupteshwar Temple. Other towns and cities of tourist interest are also easily accessible from Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary.
