Ganpatipule is another important site in Maharashtra which is popularly known as one of the oldest pilgrimages of India. This place is famous for the age old Swayambhu Shrine of Shri Ganesha which can be dated back to some 4000 years ago. The temple contains a self made or self erected shrine of Lord Ganesha which is flooded with a number devotees who visit the area from far off places. Surrounded with one of the most virgin beaches of Maharashtra this ancient temple is located in the small village of Ganapatipule, the name that means Ganapati- the lord of Ganas or army and Pule which means sand dunes. Ganapatipule is one of the Ashta Ganapatis which are located in India. Along with its miracles and wonders Lord Ganesha of Ganapatipule has been considered as the Pashim Dwara Devta of India.
Ganpatipule is a small village located at the western coast of India. It is mainly marked by neatly drawn roads, red soil and roofed houses which have clean boundaries and angans. Along with its religious importance the place is also known as a major tourist spot surrounded with a number of other tourist spots. The major places which surround the area is Malgund that is one a kilometrer away from the village, Pawas, Jaigad Fort, Ratnagiri, Velneshwar, Marleshwar, Derwen and Parshuram which are popularly known. The village celebrates some festivals like Gauri Ganapati and Magh Chaturdashi along with Diwali and Holi
Thus with well connected roads and railways, this is another important tourist sight of India located on the western coast of India.
