The Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport and the nearest railway station is at Hosiarpur. Dharamsala-Hoshiarpur Highway passes through the town. It is located between 31.67° North latitude and 76.07° East longitude at a height of 439 metres(1440 feet) above mean sea level.

According to the 2001 India, census report, Gagret had a small population of 3180 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 475 of the population. In Gagret, 11% of the population is less than six years of age. Gagret has an average literacy rate of 81%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 83%, and the female literacy rate is 78%.
