Gadag -Betigeri is located in Gadag district of the southern state of India, Karnataka. Gadag and Betigeri are twin cities and have a joint city administration. Gadag-Betigeri is spread over an area of 54.56 sq. km. and is also the administrative headquarters of the Gadag district. Bangalore, the state capital is located at a distance of 480 km.

According to the 2001 India census report, Gadag-Betigeri had a population of 154, 849 inhabitants. Males constitute 51% of the population and females constitute 49% of the population. In Gadag -Betigeri, 12% of the population is less than six years of age.
