Dharasuram, Tamil NaduDharasuram is a town in Thanjavur district in the southern state of India , Tamil Nadu. According to the 2001 census report, Dharasuram had a population of 13,027 inhabitants. Males and females constitute an equal proportion of the population. In this town 11% of the population is less than six years of age. Dharasuram has an average literacy rate of 70% which is higher than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 77% and, female literacy rate is 63%.

The nearest railway station is the Dharasuram railway station on the Madras Tanjore line. This small town is famous due to the Airavateswara Shiva Temple which is an exemplary piece of architecture because of its rare sculptural workmanship. This temple was built by Raja Raja II, of the Chola dynasty in the 12th century and is dedicated to a form of Shiva which is worshipped by Lord Indra`s elephant, Airavata and is called Airavateshwara.
