This once barren land thrived under Irani settlers, an earthy people. Dahanu is lined with fruit orchards and is famous for its chickoo fruit. Accessible from Dahanu is Udwada -- an important place of worship for the Zoroastrians with a large, beautiful temple that houses their sacred fire. An amazing fact but true, this fire has been kept alive for almost a thousand years.

Dahanu-Bordi is a seaside and beach resort. The coastline of Dahanu-Bordi is around 17 km. It is small and quiet village side beach, and is accessible from Mumbai - by rail and road. It is 145 km away from Mumbai. The nearest railhead is Dahanu road. It takes around three hours to reach Dahanu-Bordi from Mumbai.

History of Dahanu-Bordi
Dahanu-Bordi was once an isolated and barren place. The first settlers of this beach side village were the Iranians. They slogged out to make Dahanu-Bordi a renowned place for fruits, mainly chickoos. The major place of visit is Udwada - popularly called the Mecca of Zoroastrians. This temple also houses the holy fire of the Zoroastrians and this fire has been kept alive and burning for more than thousands of years.
