Combretum decandrum Roxb is a medicinal plant found in deciduous forests throughout India. These plants are commonly distributed along streams in hill forests of central India and in open forest land in southern Orissa and eastern Andhra Pradesh. It is commonly known as Rurel in Hindi, Piwarvel in Marathi, Atundi in Oriya, and Arikota in Telugu.
Combretum decandrum Roxb medicinal plant is a large, climbing shrub. The leaves are opposite and simple and are 20 cm long and 10 cm wide. These are elliptic-oblong, apex abruptly acuminate, nearly glabrous and bear very short petioles. Flowers of these plants are greenish-white in colour, borne in cylindrical racemes forming terminal panicles. Floral bracts are large and turn creamy-white colour on flowering. Fruits are 2-3 cm long.
