CNN or Cable News Network that was launched in 1980s is one of the world`s largest news channels which was introduced by Ted Turner. This channel for the first time introduced the concept of 24 hours news channel that was supposed to capture news from all corners of the world. CNN broadcasts primarily from its headquarters at the CNN Centre in Atlanta, Time Warner Centre in New York City, and studios in Washington, DC. CNN launched its companion network, Headline News, called CNN II, in the year 1982. This channel featured a continuous 24-hour cycle of 30-minute news broadcasts. Headline News broke from its original format in 2006 with the addition of Headline Prime.
CNN has been one channel that makes extensive use of affiliated reporters that are local to, and often directly affected by, the events they are reporting. CNN also has a website, cnn.com, the international edition of which is constantly updated to bring the top news stories from around the world. Dedicated staff in London and Hong Kong, working with colleagues at CNN`s world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and with bureaus worldwide, produce it. CNN.com relies heavily on CNN`s global team of almost 4,000 news professionals.

This channel has been popularly known for some of its exclusive coverage that began from 1986 onwards. Some of the major events that were covered by CNN included the great Challenger disaster that gave full coverage of the launching of and subsequent explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger that was launched in 28 January, 1986 that killed seven crew members. CNN very recently introduced some new technicalities different from its earlier channels. This includes its new graphic package of on-air presentation. This was a comprehensive redesigning which replaced its existing style. Since March 2009 the channel witnessed further changes which were introduced by launching CNN HD logo which made it very similar to CNN International. Again in 2011 CNN introduced some of its most recent graphics packages. This boosted the existing network package of the channel which now shares both standard definition and high definition formats based on 16:9 formats. Among its recent coverage the channel had full HD coverage of the American Votes 2008 and American Election system. Along with this it also introduced Online News Interaction. In case of India CNN gave a two hour live show on Indo- Pak relations which included discussions with some prominent personalities.
