Chiknayakanhalli is a city and the taluka headquarters in Tumkur district of Karnataka. It is located 53 Km. west of Tumkur. The place is well connected by air, rail and roadways. The Bangalore International Airport is the nearest airport. Banasandra Railway Station is the nearest railway station. State Highway 19 passes through Chiknayakanhalli. The place is situated between 13.42 North latitude and 76.62 East longitude. The topography of the place is located at 804 metres (2637 feet) above mean sea level.

According to the 2001 census report, Chiknayakanhalli has a population of about 22,360 inhabitants. Males constitute 50% of the population and females also constitute 50% of the population. 11% of the population is less than six years of age. The literacy rate of Chiknayakanhalli is 70%, which is higher than the national standard set at 59.5%. The literacy rate of the male population is 76% and that of the females is 64%.
