President"s rule in Tripura
President`s rule, a constitutional provision invoked in exceptional circumstances, was imposed in the state of Tripura on three occasions, marking pivotal junctures in its political history. The first instance occurred from November 1, 1971, to March 20, 1972, when the normal functioning of the state government was suspended, and governance was directly administered by the President of India. Subsequently, from November 5, 1977, to January 5, 1978, and again from March 11, 1993, to April 10, 1993, President`s rule was reimposed, reflecting the challenges and uncertainties faced by the state during those periods. During these episodes, the democratic machinery was temporarily suspended, with the President taking charge to restore stability and ensure the smooth functioning of the state.
