Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary

Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary, AssamChakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of approximately 45.568 sq. kms. The Sanctuary is situated in the Dhubri District of Assam and is 68 kms from Dhubri. The sanctuary is gifted with natural beauty and rich biodiversity. It is one of the sanctuaries of Assam inhabited by various species of mammals, reptiles and birds. The sanctuary is located in a panoramic location surrounded by green hills and two lakes on either side.

Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam received the status of a sanctuary from the Government of Assam on 14th July1994. It is set in an astounding locale of Dhubri District in Assam and is located 68 km from Dhubri.

In the year 1986, the world famous Golden Langur was seen here. Hornbills with their over sized beaks decorated with large casques are an interesting sight in the sanctuary. Here one can also witness twenty-three species of reptiles including snakes, crocodiles, alligators, lizards and turtles. In the deep forests visitors can even catch sight of more than forty species of butterflies. Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary is a safe haven for huge varieties of animals, which are on the verge of extinction.
