Wild animals here include elephants, sambars, tiger, spotted deer, leopards, wild boars, barking deer Malabar giant squirrel, four horned antelope, hare, grizzled giant squirrel and common otter. While touring the sanctuary visitors can catch a glimpse of one of these animals. Birds at this reserve comprise of pigmy woodpecker, green billed malkoha, sirkeer cuckoo and white browned bulbul. This place is also popular for masher fish, a rare species. Turtles, crocodiles, pythons, cobras, Russell`s viper and several other reptiles safely reside at Cauvery Wildlife sanctuary, Karnataka.

There are also the ruins of Lord Shiva`s temple. The magnificently sculpted idol is worth seeing. People from the Soliga community still worship at this place. Once the tourists have seen the temple they can indulge in fishing game on Cauvery. The beauty of Cauvery is at its best here. Rock climbing and angling are also popular ways of spending time at Cauvery Wildlife sanctuary. The best part about the sanctuary is the bird`s-eye view it presents of the neighboring land and the river in particular. Cauvery gliding, sliding up and down the crest is a scene to watch out for.
