Carrot Seed OilThe Carrot Seed Oil is packed with natural healing properties, which have been used since time immemorial by ancient Greeks and Indians. Its plant source is an annual or biennial plant with hairy leaves and umbels of white lacy flowers and purple centers. Also popularly called wild Queen Anne`s lace, its native origins can be traced back to Egypt, France, and India. In modern application, it is used for cancer patients, especially those with stomach and throat problems.

Extraction of Carrot Seed Oil
Carrot seed oil is extracted from the dried seeds through steam distillation, which is most commonly used due to its ability to excellently preserve valuable nutrients. The carrot seeds produce the most essential oil but other parts of the plant can be used as well. In some cases, the dried seeds are crushed first before going through steam distillation. Carrot seed oil has a slightly sweet, dry and earthy aroma.

Origin of carrot seed oil
Carrot seed oil is mainly obtained from wild carrots, usually found in Europe. It is an annual or biennial herb with hairy leaves and umbels of white lacy flowers with purple centers. The name is derived from the Greek `Carotos` and it had great medicinal value in ancient times, especially for its carminative properties.

Precautions
Although it is regarded to be a "safe oil", it is best avoided during pregnancy.

Uses of Carrot Seed Oil
In traditional Chinese medicine, carrot seed oil has been proven to treat dysentery and to expel worms. But apart from these uses, it is also frequently:


•Added into spicy foods and sauces in many Asian cuisines
•Mixed with other oils to infuse a woody note in oriental and aldehydic perfumes
•Used as a massage oil or bath oil to ease muscle pain
•Used as a lotion to naturally and effectively tan and moisturize the skin.
•Effective when experiencing feelings of separation, fogginess, and dizziness.

Other Benefits: It is widely used in aromatherapy due to its mild and soothing earthy aroma which is very effective in relieving stress and anxiety and giving a refreshing feeling. Carrot seed oil also relieves muscle aches, cures anorexia, enhances the production of erythrocytes and improves eye sight.

Blending: Carrot seed oil mixes well with Bergamot, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Avocado, Cedar Wood and Geranium oil.
