Borivali

Borivali, which harbours the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, is a suburban area in the northwestern part of Mumbai.

Borivali, Mumbai Subrub, Maharashtra The suburban region of Borivali is situated in the northwestern segment of Mumbai. The region is at a distance of approximately 18 km from Mumbai Airport and around 33.4 km from the Churchgate Railway Station by train. The population of Borivali in 1991 was more than 6 lakhs. The Borivali railway station is the last stop for all slow and fast trains along the Mumbai Suburban Railway route.

One of the important landmarks of Borivali is the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. This park lies in the eastern part of Borivali near the Western Express Highway (NH 8). It has a small number of lions and panthers and also consists of a 4th century B.C. archaeological spot known as the Kanheri Caves and the Mandpeshwar Caves.

Borivali, Mumbai Subrub, Maharashtra Borivali has good quality educational institutions and schools like the Mary Imaculate Girls primary or secondary or high school, the Saint Francis D` Assisi High School, the Swami Vivekanand International School, the Ajmera Global School, the Our Lady Of Remedy High School, the Gopalji Hemraj High School, the Gokhale Education Society, the Don Bosco High School, the Himalaya High School, the Suvidya Group of schools and colleges, the J B Khot High School, the Sardar Vallabhabhi Patel Vidyalaya and the St. Rocks College of Commerce and Science.

The region is also home to a very renowned Ganapati Temple called Shree Swayambhu Ganesh Devsthan. This temple is popularly known as the "Vazeera Ganpati". The temple is visited by thousands of devotees every Tuesday. In Borivali is also located an old Church known as Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church. Mt. Poinsur, also called IC church is another church situated situated in the vicinity of the Shanti Ashram.
