Bodinayakkanur also known as "The Cardamom city of India" is in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu.

Bodinayakanur is a city and a municipality in Theni district located on the foot hills of the Western Ghats in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Bodinayakkanur - Billiard green hilltops The exact location of the town is at 10.02° N 77.35° E. It has a mean elevation of 353 metres (1158 feet). This city is popularly known as the "The Cardamom city of India", because of being a popular cardamom trade centre.

As per the 2001 India census, Bodinayakanur has a population of 73,430. It is the most densely populated town in the district. The statistics show a demographical balance with 50% males and 50% females. The town has a mean literacy rate of 71%, cosiderably greater than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 64%. 10% of the population is less than 6 years of age.

The city of Bodinayakanur has a very old water purification and pumping system, which was constructed around 1900 and is still active. Reverberating cascades, silver-lined clouds resting atop billiard green hilltops, steep rock faces and temples of olden times are the unique features of this place. The pastoral atmosphere, generosity of the local masses and their rustic way of life make it a nice town.

The town is bordered by the western ghats, and is filled with green stretches of cultivated lands and tea gardens. Silk cotton, soft towels, coffee seeds, cardamom, mango, are the chief products of this town.
