Bakkhim in Sikkim is a quaint village which is popular for a trekking track. This place is located in the South Sikkim district.

Bakkhim, SikkimBakkhim is a small village in Ravangla of South Sikkim district of Sikkim. It is often known as the base for Dzongri and is a feast for the senses with more than 20 varieties of Rhododendrons. A popular trekking spot, the lush green environs, the riot of colours and medley of shades presented by its flora has made Bakkhim a popular with the tourists. Bakkhim is also the base for mountaineers and trekkers going to Dzongri 10 km away.

Bakkhim offers stunning views of the Yuksom Valley and mountain peaks on a clear day. Besides the trekking tracks, the heavenly view of the Kanchenjunga from Bakkhim also lures the travellers. It is a perfect getaway from the din and bustle of city life and to bask in the serenity that it offers. Prek Chu river streams in close vicinity of Bakkhim. It summons charming, heavenly perspectives of mountain peaks and profound valleys all around. Tsokha Village and Phedang are the adjacent spots of major attraction.

Demography of Bakkhim
According to the census of 2011, the Bakkhim village has population of 925 of which 498 are males while 427 are females. In Bakkhim village population of children with age 0-6 is 76 which make up 8.22 percent of total population of village. Bakkhim village has lower literacy rate compared to Sikkim. Literacy rate of Bakkhim village was 79.98 percent compared to 81.42 percent of Sikkim. In Bakkhim, the male literacy stands at 84.02 percent while female literacy rate was 75.13 percent.
