Badod

Badod is a town as well as a nagar panchayat situated in the Shajapur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The district headquarters of the Shajapur district are located in the town of Shajapur. Shajapur District comprises a portion of the Malwa Plateau. The district is positioned in the northwestern part of the state and lies between the latitudes 32"06` and 24"19` North and the longitudes 75"41` and 77" 02` East. As its boundaries the district has the Ujjain District to the west, Dewas and Sehore to the south, Rajgarh to the east, and the Jhalawar District of Rajasthan to the north. The Shajapur District is a fraction of the Ujjain Division. This district was in the past a district of the Gwalior State. It became a part of Madhya Pradesh along with the rest of the Gwalior State on November 1, 1956. The entire district is a part of the Deccan Trap that was formed during the Cretaceous- Paleocene age. Different parts of this district has different names like Agar- Malwa or Baijnath Dham (the western part of the district), Shajapur forested upland (which runs north to south from the middle of the district), Kali Sindh basin (which stretches from the northern to the southern limits of the district) and the Shajapur upland (which extends throughout the eastern part of the district).

The Badod town of this district has a population of 11,764. Males constitute 52% and females 48% of the population. The literacy rate is more or less 63%, a bit higher than the national average of 59.5%. 60% of the males and 40% of females are literate. Children below six years of age account for 18% of the population.
