Administration of Lower Subansiri district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh mainly aims at keeping closest co-operation between the various developmental departments with the administration to keep step together for speedy development and growth of the people and the area. The administrative set-up of this district is entirely based on a single line administration. The Deputy Commissioner is in charge of the entire administrative set up of this district. He is responsible for maintaining law and order with the help of administrative officers and the police force of this district. The villages of Lower Subansiri district have their own traditional administrative system in the forms of traditional village councils .These conventional village councils comprises the Gaon-Burahs and members.
The Lower Subansiri district is positioned directly under the charge of the Deputy Commissioner who is responsible for the managerial set up of the district. The lowest unit of the administration of this district is a Circle, which is looked after by a Circle Officer or Extra Assistant Commissioner. A circle is considered as a group of villages and not as a single territorial unit. There are principally six administrative circles in the Lower Subansiri district and these are Ziro (Sadar), Yachuli, Pistana, Raga, Kamporijo and Dollungmukh. Further, the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulations, 1945, authorises the village councils of this district to settle all civil matters and other criminal issues that are falling within their jurisdictions.
However, for all the matters (both civic and criminal), the Deputy Commissioner exercises full power as a session judge and in that case some other administrative officers are also invested with the authoritative powers for solving the issues.
The Assam High Court, who holds the appellate and the Revision Authority, has the jurisdiction over all the district courts of Arunachal Pradesh. The district has been enclosed by three blocks and these are Ziro-I, Ziro-II and Tamen-Raga. The Community Information Centre (CIC) exists in all the three headquarters. This Community Information Centre (CIC), which is funded by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India, offers the latest infrastructure facilities associated with information technology for the benefits of local population of the district. Thus, it can be said that the administration set up of the Lower Subansiri district chiefly aims at the overall development of each and every sector of the district.
