The duo is renowned to have been together always in all the ventures. Their films have mostly garnered popularity and have also earned them several nominations in many prestigious Indian film awards. Their films frequently feature Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Bipasha Basu in lead roles.

Early Life of Abbas-Mustan
Abbas and Mustan Burmawalla were born in the city of Surat in the Indian state of Gujarat. Their family was involved in the furniture business, however Abbas-Mustan wanted to follow a different dream in the celluloid. However in the absence of a roaring business Abbas and Mustan spent an underprivileged life in their childhood encountering much financial crisis and hardships. When they met their uncle S. D. Kura who worked as a film editor in the Hindi film industry, they were advised to opt for film editing before direction. They learnt editing and later they started working as assistant directors with Sultan Ahmad and subsequently joined Govindbhai Patel with the same designation.

Career of Abbas-Mustan
Abbas-Mustan began their journey as film directors with Gujarati films. They directed their first movie Sajan Tara Sambharana in 1985 which was offered to them by Govindbhai Patel as he liked their work a lot. The movie turned out to be a hit. This was followed by a few other Gujarati films after which they moved to Hindi cinema. They marked their cinematic debut in Bollywood in the year 1990 with the movie Agnikaal. Subsequently they directed Khiladi in 1992. The turning point of their career came with the movie Baazigar starring Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Kajol. The film was a huge success and rendered recognition to the duo in the film industry paving way for their successful career. This was followed by a series of successful ventures which included films like Soldier, Ajnabee, Humraaz, Aitraaz, 36 China Town, Race, Players, Race 2 and others. Abbas-Mustan are renowned for deriving inspiration from Hollywood movies for their films. They also own a production house known as Burmawalla Partners.
