His birth took place in the `City of Joy` Kolkata but academically he is the product of Mumbai. When he was modeling in the `Garden City`, Bangalore (at present Bengaluru), he was spotted by Kathir who launched him in the South Indian Film `Kathal Desam`. He has proved his mettle as a versatile actor and has also delivered the best of his performances casted opposite the likes of Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth, Sivaji Ganesan, Madhavan and Ajith. He has also made some music videos for the album `Yeh Hai Prem` which has already been a chartbuster in the year 1999. In the recent times he is running a family-based business in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

From the childhood only this actor was very keen to join the profession of acting. After seeing the movie `Umrao Jaan` of the yesteryears he decided that acting was the career he would like to choose as his profession. His mother had been a great source of inspiration towards him and she being a celebrity chef she had been able to learn a lot. In the small screen he has acted in popular soaps like `Astitva` on Zee Television and `Kasturi` on Star Plus and also a serial fro Doordarshan `Jhamane Dil`.

He is believed to be a hero full of charm and dynamism. Within a very short span of time Abbas Khan has acted in more than 25 movies in Tamil, Telegu, Kannad, Malayalam and Hindi in addition to a number of videos. His movies include `V.I.P.`, `Poochudavaa` `Ini Ellam Sugame`, `Aasaithambi`, all in Tamil language, `Priya O Priya` and `Jolly` in Telegu and `Shanti Shanti Shanti` in Kannad. Some of the recent works of Abbas Khan include the character portrayal of son-in-law in the film `Padayappa` and the role of a doctor in the Bollywood flick `Hey Ram` by the South Indian superstar Kamal Hassan.

In the recent movie by Rajiv Menon titled `Kandukondain Kandukondain` he essays the character of a young man who starts a Finance Company and fares very poorly. He also loses his sweetheart Aishwarya Rai and marries the daughter of a rich man to get back into his business. He holds the reputation of being able to manage movies in almost any Indian language.

This gifted actor does not at all feel that an actor`s popularity is limited to his or her last performance on the television. According to Abbas Khan it is not the medium, which is important, but the character, which he is essaying, and also how much faith and dedication he has put into it. In future he wants to try out negative roles, as that would help him evaluate his acting prowess.

In Bollywood he is planning to do a film, which will see the light of the day next year. He believes that inorder to be successful one need to be extremely faithful towards his work. Being happy is another key to success. He is found to be quite enthusiastic on the sets and is also believed to be raising up the spirits of anyone present there by his optimistic spirit. He believes that his faith in the Almighty and the ardent support of his family will take him places one day.
