Built on a huge monolith of around 850 m in length, 500 m in width and about 100 m in height, the Yadgir Fort is one of the biggest forts in Karnataka. It is located in Yadgir district in the state of Karnataka and was once popularly known as Yetagiri.
History of Yadgir Fort
The Yadgir Fort was originally believed to have been constructed by the Kalyana Cholas and was modified by the Yadava Kings, but was later conquered and renovated by Ibrahim Adil Shah I.
The majestic Yadgir Fort has three rounds of fortifications. On the premises of the fort, there are three ancient temples, the Bhuvaneshwari Devi or Bhavani temple, the Ramalingeshwara Shiva temple and a Jain temple. Other than this, there are also a medieval mosque, a twin step well and water tanks.

The Yadgir railway station is nearest at a distance of 4 km from the fort and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad is the closest airport at about 197 km away.
