Situated at a height of 739 metres (2424 feet) above mean sea level Dharur is a municipal city in the Bid district of Maharashtra. It is located between 18.82° North latitude and 76.12° East longitude.
According to the 2001 census report, Dharur in Maharashtra had a population of 18,350 inhabitants. The male consists of 52% of the population and females 48% of the population and has an average literacy rate of 655. The literacy rate of the town is good when compared to the national average literacy rate, which is 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 74% and the female literacy rate is 55%. In Dharur, 15% of the population is less than six years of age.
