Amit Tandon, born April 11, 1979, was ranked among the top ten finalists of the musical talent hunt 'Indian Idol.' He is from New York. He hails from a business family and is a college graduate. He came to the Indian subcontinent to participate in the Indian Idol Contest. In 2008, he released his debut solo album 'Tanha.' He provided vocals for the Indian Idol 1 album and another album also featuring the Idol finalists titled 'Yaaron.'
Amit Tandon debuted in the Balaji serial by the character of Prithvi in 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai' alongside Iqbal Khan and Neha Bamb. In this soap he appears to be a good friend of the female protagonist Kripa but later on falls into love with her. In the very popular Balaji soap 'Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' he was seen after the 20-year leap as the son of Karan Virani and Tanya Virani. In this soap he plays a dark shade but is extremely possessive towards his mother and sister. After Kyunki, his next show was the Zee TV drama, 'Saath Saath Banayenge Ek Aashiyaan.' He played the role of an NRI, Abhay Singh. After taking part in Indian Idol, Tandon took part in two more reality shows - Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar' and 'Zara Nachke Dikha.' He also starred in the serial 'Dill Mill Gayye' as Dr. Abhimanyu Modi.
On a personal note Tandon is married to Dr. Ruby Tandon who is a trainee doctor from Vancouver, Canada. His wife Ruby gave birth to a baby girl, Jiyana in Canada on 30 June 2010.
