Varanattu Gopala Krishna Kurup, Mudiyettu ArtistVaranattu Gopala Krishna Kurup is a contemporary performing artist and exponent of Mudiyettu, Kerala"s traditional ritual theatre art form, from South Koratty in the Thrissur district of the state. He is the son and disciple of Mudiyettu master artist Late Shri Varanattu Madhava Kurup and brother of contemporary Mudiyettu exponent Varanattu Sankara Narayana Kurup, belonging to Varanattu Kurup family of traditional Mudiyettu performers.

Contribution of Varanattu Gopala Krishna Kurup in Mudiyettu
Varanattu Gopala Krishna Kurup, in the past 30 years, has been conducting and performing in Mudiyettu enactments and the Kalamezhuthum Pattum facet of the folk ritual art, in over 60 Bhagathy (Bhadrakali) temples in Kerala. He is also proficient in the traditional vocal and percussion instruments like Chenda, Thimila, Idakka and the traditional music form Sopana Sangitham, having learnt them from his uncle Late Cheranallur Kuttappa Kurup. He is skilled in acting and portraying all roles in Mudiyettu enactments. He has been performing Mudiyettu with Sree Bhadra Mudiyettu Sangham performing troupe, along with his brother Varanattu Sankara Narayana Kurup. For his contributions in the arena of Mudiyettu, Gopala Krishna Kurup has been recognised by the Pongam temple, in Koratty.
