Karthik Kumar is an Indian movie actor who appears in Tamil films. He is also a former theatre artist who has founded his own theatre company Evam Entertainment, based in Chennai.

Karthik Kumar, Indian ActorKarthik Kumar is an Indian theatre and film actor, who has appeared in Tamil films. Before his break into movies, he was a prominent theatre artist and is popularly known as `Evam` Karthik, amongst his theatre connections. He played the role of Arjun in the Vijay TV"s drama soap "Dharmayutham". He is the founder of Evam Entertainment, a theatre company based in Chennai, some of the exceptional plays of which include "The 39 Steps", which was nominated under 8 categories and won 2 national awards and "Ali J" that received more accolades during its showcasing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013.

Education of Karthik Kumar
Born on November 11, 1977, Karthik Kumar studied chemical engineering in Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Chennai.

Career of Karthik Kumar
Karthik Kumar made his film debut in the 2000 Tamil romantic drama film "Alaipayuthey", directed by Mani Ratnam, alongside R. Madhavan and Shalini, but his first lead role was in the 2004 film "Vaanam Vasappadum", directed by P. C. Sreeram, for which he received rave reviews in his performance. In the same year, he appeared in the Hindi film "Yuva" as Vishnu. In 2005, he appeared alongside Tamil actor Prasanna and South Indian actress Laila, in the Prakash Raj-produced romantic comedy "Kanda Naal Mudhal", which became a super hit at the box office. He then played a supporting role in Mithran Jawahar-directed family drama "Yaaradi Nee Mohini", alongside Dhanush and Nayanthara. The film proved highly successful at the box office, emerging as one of the highest grossing Tamil films of that year and also receiving seven nominations at the 56th Filmfare Awards South.

Karthik next appeared in Tamil films "Poi Solla Porom", "Edhuvum Nadakkum" and "Ninaithale Inikkum", which was again successful at the box office. He next appeared in the comedy film "Kola Kolaya Mundhirika" and action thriller "Veppam". After a four-year gap, Karthik played a supporting role in Pandiraj"s comedy drama film "Pasanga 2: Haiku" and another comedy "Vellaiya Irukiravan Poi Solla Maatan". His upcoming projects include supporting roles in Prabhu Deva-produced "Vinodhan", which focuses on obsessive-compulsive disorder and comedy film "Mannar Vagera", both slated for 2016 release.

Apart from films, Karthik Kumar has also appeared on television in the 2012 courtroom soap opera "Dharamyutham" that aired on Vijay TV, portraying the character of Arjun. Karthik is also the founder of theatre company Evam Entertainment, based in Chennai.
