Yusmarg or Yousmarg is known as the "Garden of Jesus". This is a famous hill station located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This place of scenic beauty is filled up with coniferous trees and snow capped mountain in the winter months.

Yusmarg is a hill station in the western part of Kashmir Valley in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Yusmarg or Yousmarg is situated 47 km south of Srinagar the capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies 13 km south of Charari Sharief a town of Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated at the bank of Doodganga River which is a tributary of Jehlum River.
History of Yusmarg
Yusmarg in Kashmiri language means "The Meadow of Jesus" It is believed by the natives that Jesus Christ came to Kashmir and stayed at Yusmarg for some time
Landform of Yusmarg
Yusmarg or Yousmarg is an alpine valley covered with snow clad mountains and the meadows of pine and fir trees and various other coniferous trees. It is a popular tourist destination, nestled within the imposing Pir Panjal peaks, a sub range of Himalaya Mountains Range. The Peaks of Himalaya Mountain Range are the Sunset Peak and the Tatakooti Peak for which the expeditions lead from this hill station. It lies at an altitude of 2396 metres above sea level.
Tourism in Yusmarg
Yusmarg has a great scope for adventure tourism for the adventure lovers. Doodganga River flows through this meadow. In its vicinity lies the alpine meadow of Tosa Maidan. A trek of 4 km leads to a small natural fresh water lake named as Nilnag which is surrounded by pine trees. Another 10 km trek leads to the most interesting lake, the frozen lake in Sang-e-Safed valley, most portion of this fresh water lake is covered by ice even during the summer times. The other adventure sport activities include the horse riding, fishing and skiing during winter. It is the place of Photographers" paradise.
Visiting Information
Yusmarg is easily accessible from Srinagar or Srinagar Airport, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a 47 km drive in under 2 hours by car or bus leading through Charari Sharief town. During the winter season, the road sometimes is closed due to snowfall and landslides. The road remains cut off from the valley of Kashmir for weeks.
