Education in Karwan
Karwan is also rich in terms of education and a number of schools in the region cater the needs of different section of people. Government schools like Govt High School Kulsumpura and Govt High School Mustaidpura are well known. Other prominent schools of Karwan include Iqra High School, Happy Rosary Niketan High Schoo, Sri Gayatri e-Techno School, Shuja Grammar School, Saad Public School etc. MESCO College is also located here.
Attractions of Karwan
The place still houses a number of old buildings and ancient temples and mosques which were built during the Nizam era. The region called Andaroon or Inside karwan host a few old buildings and it was the exact place where the old pearl and diamond market was located. Karwan is also famed for handloom clothes. Some of the well known ancient temples located in this area include Kesari Hanuman temple, Lord Narsimha Swamy temple, Shree Santhoshi Matha temple and Shree Vithalnathji temple.
Karwan Jama Masjid is credited to be one of the oldest mosques in the entire city of Hyderabad. Darbar Maisamma temple is another landmark and one of the most prominent temples of the region. There is another ancient mosque called Toli Masjid which stands in this region and dates back to 15th century. Choti Masjid Taleem, Kulsumpura Jama Masjid etc. are other significant mosques of Karwan. Kranthi Bhavan is known to be the cultural hall and landmark of the region. Ranganathswamy temple is another old temple which is believed to have been constructed during Nizam period. Vaikunta ekadashi celebration is famed here.
Bonalu Festival in Karwan
In the Bonalu festival, the goddess of Darbar Maisamma temple is mainly worshipped. A week prior to the penultimate day marks the beginning of the celebrations and on the main day the thotella is installed in front of Maisamma temple. A number of cultural programs take place on the last day in addition to distribution of prizes to the meritorious students of UG to PG. During the festivity, many palaharam carts exhibits different traditions during a procession.
Karwan has a good connectivity of roadways and a number of buses from Karwan connect different parts of the city. Nampally railway station located at a distance of 5 kilometres is the nearest railway station to reach Karwan.
