Early Life of Swara Bhaskar
Swara Bhaskar was born on 9th April 1987 in Delhi. Her father Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar is Telugu and a Naval Officer by profession and her mother Ira Bhaskar is Bihari and works as a professor of cinema studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Swara's maternal grandmother hailed from Varanasi. Swara Bhaskar spent her childhood in Delhi and did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya. Later she attended Delhi University's Miranda House where she studied English literature. Popular Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba was one of her classmates. Swara Bhaskar pursued masters in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Career of Swara Bhaskar
Before stepping into the film world Swara Bhaskar was active in theatres and was a part of N. K. Sharma's Act One theatre group in Delhi. In the year 2008 she moved to Mumbai while in 2009 she made her cinematic debut as an actress with the film Madholal Keep Walking. Swara however failed to mark her presence in the film industry which continued with her subsequent movies Guzaarish and The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project. The actress got noticed with the 2011 Bollywood flick Tanu Weds Manu in which she essayed the role of Payal who was the best friend of the lead actress Kangna Ranaut. Her acting in the movie was applauded by the critics as well as audiences alike. It also earned her nominations for the Best Supporting Actress Award in many Indian film awards. She portrayed the lead role in the 2013 film Listen... Amaya, which also marked the reunion of the veteran actors Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval after a long span of 28 years. She also featured in the 2013 movie Aurangzeb in which she essayed a supporting role. In the same year she also starred in the Hindi film Raanjhanaa alongside Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush. She played the role of Bindiya in the movie which was well appreciated by the critics. She also appeared in the 2014 horror flick Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai.
Achievements of Swara Bhaskar
In the year 2012 Swara Bhaskar won Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie Tanu Weds Manu. In 2014 she was conferred the Screen Awards for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) for her appealing performance in the movie Raanjhanaa. In the same year she also won Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress for the same film.
