Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary situated in Jammu and Kashmir, with a population of 8 species and 15 species of birds. Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary covers 98 square kilometres and these two lakes are the lifeline of the animal kingdom of this wildlife sanctuary.
Named for the two lakes on each corner of it, Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a number of natural vegetation. The mixed scrub forest comprises mainly of broad leaved species which are mixed with stands of Pinus gerardiana. The common broad leaved species are Acacia spp., Mallotus phillipensis, dalbergia sissii, ficus religiosa, bahunia variegata.
This sanctuary covers the eight species of birds like Goral, wild boar, barking deer, leopard. There is multitude of birds like black partridge, red jungle fowl, peafowl, grey partridge, green pigeon, blue rock pigeon, rufus turtle dove. The best time to visit this place is spring and autumn.
