 Sathanur Crocodile Farm is a crocodile farm in Thandarampatu taluk or Thandrampet. Thandarampatu taluk or Thandrampet is a taluk of Tiruvannamalai district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters is the town of Thandarampattu This abode of crocodile is of prime importance among the tourists national and international origin.
Sathanur Crocodile Farm is maintained by the Forest Department of Tamil Nadu since 1977. This crocodile farm is situated at the south-east corner of Sathanur Dam. Sathanur Dam is one of the major dams constructed across the Pennaiyar River. Sathanur Dam is constructed across the Thenpennai River in Thandarampet taluk among Chennakesava Hills.
The dam of Sathanur can be reached by road 30 kilometres from Thiruvannamalai Town. The dam was constructed in 1958. Near the dam of Sathanur, the large crocodile farm and a fish grotto are present alluring the tourists. Parks are maintained inside the dam for tourists to visit and the gardens have been used by the film industry for shooting.
At present 395 crocodiles ( Crocodilus palustris) present in the marsh land of Sathanur Crocodile Farm. The crocodiles are being fed with 140 kilograms of beef for 2 days and 100 kilograms of fish for 2 days in every week. Children's park is also present in this region.
