![]() Early Life of Prakash Javadekar Prakash Javadekar was born on 30th January 1951 in Pune to Shri Keshav Krishna Javadekar and Ranjani Javadekar. His father was a senior leader of Hindu Mahasabha. He led the Pune Unit of the organization as its President. His mother was one of first educated women of her area and presently imparts Vedic education to women. Prakash Javadekar graduated in commerce from Pune and since his student days is associated with ABVP. After completing his education he worked with the Bank of Maharashtra from the year 1971 to 1981. He also served in the Rural Development Department, Sick Unit Cell, under the Employment Promotion Programme of the Bank. Prakash Javadekar used to work as the joint editor of Kesari a Marathi Daily initiated by Lokmanya Tilak. He stills writes for some newspapers occasionally. ![]() Prakash Javadekar worked for ABVP as a student activist during the days of Emergency in India. For leading a Satyagraha in Pune he was also arrested. Although he was diagnosed with a major heart problem while he was in jail the government did not give him the permission for the operation. Later due to the agitation of other activists he underwent operation and was saved. Throughout his career he held several significant positions. Since 1977 to 1999 he was the Chairman of Task Force on IT in the Government of Maharashtra. From 1995 to 1999 he was the Executive President of State Planning Board in Maharashtra. For twelve years, from 1990 to 2002, he served as the Member of Legislative Council, Maharashtra, from Pune Division Graduate Constituency. In 2000 he was also elected as the Chairman of Working Group on IT for Masses in the Government of India. He has also been the President of GLOBE India (Global Legislators Organisation for Balanced Environment); In-Charge of BJP Economic Forum and Cells related to Economy; President of NOINO (National Organisation of Insurance Officers) and President of KCKU (Khadi Commission Karmachari Union). He has been the member of several committees such as Press Council of India, Public Accounts Committee, Standing Committee on Human Resources and Development, Consultative Committee for Ministry of Power, Committee on Subordinate Legislation and Committee on Wakf. Personal Life of Prakash Javadekar Prakash Javadekar is married to Dr. Prachee Javadekar, a leading Education Consultant and a former Director of Indira Institute of Management, Pune. The couple has two sons namely Dr. Ashutosh Javadekar, a Dentist and Artist by profession, and Apoorva Javadekar. |
