Early Life of Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman was born in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. She did her graduation from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirapalli in 1980. She did her master's degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Ph.D in Indo-European Textile Trade within GATT framework. After that, Nirmala Sitharaman completed her M. Phil in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Career of Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman began her career from Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Senior Manager, Researcher and Analyst and for British Broadcasting Corporation World Service. She is one of the founding directors of Pranava School in Hyderabad. She was a former member of the National Commission for Women in India. She was in the office from the time 2003 to 2005.
Political Career of Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2006. Her husband Prabhakar joined with the Prajarajyam Party floated by the most popular South Indian movie actor Chiranjeevi in 2007. As she joined with Bharatiya Janata Party, Nirmala Sitharaman gained in strength and popularity in the BJP. She became the spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party when Nitin Gadkari was the President of Bharatiya Janata Party. Currently, Nirmala works as a part of a team of six spokespersons headed by Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is now appointed as the Minister of Law and Justice and Communications and Information Technology in Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
Nirmala Sitharaman played a vital role as a spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party in the pre election time of 2014. As a visible spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nirmala also played a key role in projecting Narendra Modi, as a future Prime Minister of India.
After the mammoth victory in 2014 Indian General Election, on May 26, Nirmala Sitharaman was made the Minister of State for Commerce with independent charges.
Personal Life of Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman is married to Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, a, Indian political critic, analyst and commentator and the most popular face as a television anchor. He is hailing from Narsapuram. He served both in Indian National Congress and Prajarajyam Party. The couple was blessed with a daughter.
