History of JSCA International Cricket Stadium
The decision of JSCA to create a brand new cricket stadium in Ranchi was provoked by a disagreement with Tata Steel regarding the distribution of international cricket matches and also regulating matches in Keenan Cricket Stadium. The stadium is located just at ten minutes drive from the Ranchi Airport which is also known as the 'Birsa Munda Airport'. The IPL6 matches hosted here include the one between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders which took place on 12th May, 2012 and the one between Kolkata Knight Readers (which KKR won by 5 wickets) and Pune Warriors India which occurred on 15th May, 2013 (wherein Pune Warriors India emerged victorious by 7 runs). The IPL7 matches which are scheduled to be held at JSCA include the one between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders on 2nd May, 2014 as well as the match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings which will be conducted on 13th May, 2014. Some Champions League matches were hosted at JSCA International Cricket Stadium including Trinidad and Tobago against Brisbane Heat on 22nd September, 2013, match between Chennai Super Kings and Titans on 22nd September, 2013, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 26th September, 2013, Titan and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 28th September, 2013 and Brisbane Heat and Chennai Super Kings on 28th September, 2013.
