Located at a height of about 1,095 feet above sea level, Chettipalayam is a town in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Chettipalayam is situated on the outskirts of south Coimbatore and 38 Km. south west of Tirupur. In the northern side of the town is Singanallur, on the eastern side is Kamanayakkanpalaiyam, on the western side is Madukkarai and on the southern side is Kattampatti.
The birth of the famous saint Sri Gurudev took place in Chettipalayam. The town has a good network of communication. Bus services operate from Coimbatore. There are bus Stations from Irugur to Chettipalayam. The nearest railway station is Podanur Railway Station, which is a junction, and the nearest airport is C A Coimbatore Airport.
This census town is famous for go-karting because the Kari Motor Speedway is located here. There is a beautiful and large 18-hole golf club named Coimbatore Golf Club in the town where golfers from other cities regularly visit and play golf.
According to the 2001 census report, Chettipalayam has a population of 19,379 people. Males constitute 52% of the population while the females comprises of 48% of the population. 11% of the population is under six years. The literacy rate of Chettipalayam is 73%, which is higher than the average literacy standard, which is 59.5%; with male literacy rate of 80% and female literacy of 65%.
