Chenani is a town and a notified area committee in Udhampur district in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir .
According to the 2001 census , males constitute 55% of the population and females comprises of 45% of the population .The literacy rate of this region is quite high at 80% while the national average literacy rate is 59.5% .The male literacy rate of Chenani is 85% which is higher than that of the female population which is 73% .12% of the population is below the age of six years.The major lanuages spoken in the district are Hindi , Urdu,Kashmiri and Dogri.
